Get rid of the team's mindset “This is not my problem”.

When people fail to take personal responsibility for failures and mistakes, the road to constructive change is blocked.

A hidden mentality “This is not my problem” can lead to friction in the team.

When employees take a defensive position, start blaming other colleagues, persistently looking for a bunch of excuses, in such a situation a constructive and open communication breaks up.

Company leaders must respond quickly, otherwise, this "blaming culture" virus spread out very quickly throughout the company.

People blame others because of the following reasons:

• Loss of control: Some people panic when they lose control of a situation and so they try to restore the sense of being in control by blaming others!! So behind the act of blaming others, fear might exist!!

• Controlling someone in a team: Some people try to control others by blaming them and making them feel that they are bad. If someone desperately wants anyone in team to do something they might start to blame someone to change their behavior.

• Refusing to admit that they are responsible: Some people can’t admit failures and mistakes so they blame others for them in order to escape from the responsibility. As an example, "I was late because the streets were crowded"; I couldn't have done the task because the other department didn't respond to my email, etc.

• Unable to accept what happened: People blame others when they fail to accept something that happened.

People who blame others usually try to hide their feelings of helplessness. If they didn’t blame anyone they would admit that they are not in control and that there is nothing they can do.

To strengthen synergy, we have carried out culture in our company where everyone comprehends the true value and asset of being together as one. Once a week, the team meets in an informal setting where we meditate and afterward we share ideas, successes, knowledge and personal growth experience with each other during a current week. This greatly strengthens synergy together with opened communication in the team. This culture in the company didn't mature instantly though. It took time to create such a cohesion.

When communicating with the team, encourage proactive thinking. Make sense every conversation or claim is to be constructive. Ultimately, employees will accept that destructive communication in the culture of this company is not acceptable. They'll stop blaming for their problems the others and become more responsible.
